Program Entrance Requirements: Admission to Broward College does not constitute admission to the Teacher Education Program (TEP). Students must meet all Teacher Education Program admission requirements prior to being accepted into the program.
Requirements for admission to the Teacher Education Program include the following:
- Completion of an Associate of Arts degree from a regionally-accredited institution or at least 60 semester credit hours of post-secondary education from a regionally-accredited college or university with 36 credit hours of general education coursework.
- A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for the general education component of undergraduate studies.
- A passing score on any one of the four (English, Essay, Mathematics, Reading) subtests of the General Knowledge Exam.
- Students admitted to the program will be required to take and pass the remaining three sections of the General Knowledge Exam by the completion of their 15th credit.

- Applicants must be in good academic standing at the last institution they attended.
- Broward College must have on file an official, complete transcript from each postsecondary institution attended, cumulatively indicating completion of 60 or more transferable credits by the applicant’s entry term. Prior Broward College students do not need to submit Broward College transcripts, only transcripts from any other institutions attended.
- Completion of all general education requirements and lower division state mandated common prerequisites, including the following three common education prerequisites, in which students must have earned a grade of “C” or better:
- EDF1005 INTRODUCTION TO THE TEACHING PROFESSION
- Submission of a letter of recommendation from one person who knows the applicant personally, educationally, and/or professionally.
- Approval from the Teacher Education Program Admission Committee
Program Description: The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education has two tracks: A Middle Grades Mathematics Education track designed to qualify its graduates to teach Mathematics in grades 5-9 and Secondary Mathematics Education track designed to qualify its graduates to teach Mathematics in grades 6-12. Please note that admission to Broward College does not constitute admission to the Teacher Education programs; a supplemental application is also required for the Teacher Education Program. Students must meet all Teacher Education Program admission requirements before acceptance into the program. In addition to the required coursework, students must pass the Florida Teacher Certification Exams as a requirement for program completion.
The Bachelor of Science in Education uses a 2+2 model requiring the completion of an Associate of Arts Degree, or at least 60 semester credit hours of postsecondary education from a regionally accredited college or university for entry into the program; these must include 36 hours of General Education Core requirements. MAC1147 PRECALCULUS ALGEBRA AND TRIGONOMETRY is equivalent to MAC1140 PRE CALCULUS ALGEBRA and MAC1114 TRIGONOMETRY combined and will be accepted in its place.
Additionally, students in the Secondary Mathematics (6-12) Education Track must also include MAC2312 CALCULUS AND ANALYTICAL GEOMETRY II .

Students must satisfy the Digital Literacy requirement by testing out, completing a Credit for Prior Learning portfolio, or passing CGS1060C COMPUTER AND INTERNET LITERACY.
