Whether paid or unpaid, internships help students develop professional skills, explore career interests, build industry connections, and gain experience that can lead to future employment opportunities.
Many employers use internships as a talent pipeline, making internship experience one of the most effective ways to build professional connections and secure future employment opportunities.
Participating in an internship can help you:
- Apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting
- Develop career-ready skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving
- Build a network of professional contacts and mentors
- Strengthen a resume and increase marketability to employers
- Gain valuable work experience that may lead to future internship or employment opportunities
- Earn academic credit through Broward College's Internship EDGE Program, when eligible. Visit the Internship EDGE Program webpage for more information.
