Program Description: Opportunities for a rewarding career in early childhood abound for the well-trained professional interested in being a teacher of young children, supervisor of children’s programs, or owner of a childcare facility. EDF1005 INTRODUCTION TO THE TEACHING PROFESSION is a recommended elective. This course is required for admission into any state approved baccalaureate Education program in Florida.

Students must satisfy the Digital Literacy requirement by testing out, completing a Credit for Prior Learning portfolio, or passing CGS1060C COMPUTER AND INTERNET LITERACY. Students who test out are recommended to take EME2040 INTRODUCTION TO EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY or an approved elective.

Graduates from this program will:

- Pre-service teachers will understand the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of children.
- Pre-service teachers will demonstrate proficiency in creating an academic plan for classroom instruction.
- Graduates will identify at least 3 Florida Early Learning Standards that are linked to developed activity plans.
- Graduates will be able to document and apply standards of professionalism for the early childhood education field.
- Graduates will demonstrate the principles of classroom management by demonstrating at least 5 different classroom management techniques.
