Law Enforcement (CJE)
Introduction to principles of administration and managerial concepts characteristic of criminal justice organizations.
A survey of contemporary foreign law enforcement and criminal justice systems. Includes the operational and philosophical differences emerging from various cultural and legal systems. This course will include case and group studies of selected countries.
A consideration of the significance of establishing good working relationships between the police and the public, including the complex factors that lead to successful police community relations.
The investigation activity of a police department is studied to evaluate its organization, function and relationship with other divisions and agencies. Emphasis is placed on the procedural aspects and methodology employed in the investigative process. The student will learn the elements of preliminary and follow-up investigations and the roles and responsibilities of criminal investigators such as the first responding officer, the detective, and the crime scene investigator.
This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of crime scene investigations and processing. Students will be familiarized with the basic elements of crime scene processing, crime scene searching methods, sketching, and report writing. There will be an extensive hands-on lab component to this course. Special fee charged. 1hr., 2 hrs, Lab.

The knowledge and skills learned in the prerequisites are coordinated in practical, hands-on exercises which will develop expertise in the complete processing of crime scenes and the processing of evidence in a laboratory setting. Special fee charged. 1 hr. Lec., 2 hrs., Lab.
This course is an advanced course in crime scene investigations and analysis. This course will build on material learned in the prerequisite courses. Students will learn about advanced crime scene techniques involving blood spatter, gunshot trajectory, and injuries to the body. There will be an extensive hands-on lab component to this course. The student is taught specific skills necessary to visually document and photographically preserve crime scenes and evidence, from both technical and legal standpoints.
