A custom made course for those residents in the community who require a cursory knowledge of French to help them communicate with French speaking people. One hour language laboratory weekly. Special Fee Charged.

FRE1120  BEGINNING FRENCH I  (4.00 Credits)

Fundamentals of speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing, and Francophone culture. Classroom practice and exercises supplemented by laboratory and/or multi-media designed to develop communicative competence and cultural sensitivity. Student expected to continue further implementation and expansion of their proficiencies in FRE1121 and FRE2220. Students are encouraged to study abroad. FRE1120 meets the foreign language and the the International/Intercultural competency requirements.

FRE1121  BEGINNING FRENCH II  (4.00 Credits)

A continuation of FRE 1120 which further develops the basic skills in speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing, and appreciation of francophone culture. Classroom practice and exercises, supplemented by laboratory and multi-media activities, are designed to develop and enhance communicative competence and cultural sensitivity. Skills and concepts are further polished in FRE 2220. FRE1121 meets the foreign language and the International/Intercultural competency requirements.

FRE2220  INTERMEDIATE FRENCH I  (4.00 Credits)

This course is a continuation of FRE1121. This course further develops competencies in listening and reading comprehension, speaking and writing. Cultural components are embedded through the introduction of complex grammatical and idiomatic structures. Classroom practice and exercise are supplemented by laboratory and multimedia activities designed to develop and enhance communicative competence and cultural sensitivity. This course includes compositions and readings in francophone prose and poetry. FRE2220 meets the foreign language requirement and the International/intercultural competency requirement.
