Program Description: The Associate of Science degree in Film Production Technology is for students who seek entry-level employment in the field of film and video production and desire advancement. Some careers, to which this sequence may lead, are camera operator, video editor, film production crew, sound editor, film and video producer, director and cinematographer. MGF1106 FOUNDATIONS OF MATHEMATICAL REASONING and MGF1107 SURVEY OF MATHEMATICS are general education math courses that do not require prerequisites. MAC1105C COREQUISITE COLLEGE ALGEBRA is a 5-credit course. Students who register for this course must see an advisor to discuss their academic plan.

Students must satisfy the Digital Literacy requirement by testing out, completing a Credit for Prior Learning portfolio, or passing CGS1060C COMPUTER AND INTERNET LITERACY. Students who test out are required to take one of the following: FIL2930 SPECIAL TOPICS IN FILM AND VIDEO), PGY2401C PHOTOGRAPHY I, TPP2110C ACTING I, TPP2260C PERFORMANCE IN FILM, TPA2200C STAGECRAFT, or TPA2248C MAKEUP FOR STAGE AND TELEVISION.

FIL2945 FILM INTERNSHIP is a restricted course. Students are encouraged to research and apply for an internship in their preferred field, with a legitimate and active organization. To enroll, the internship must be approved by the Program Manager. Students in the A.S. Program (2510) should take this course to complete the degree. Students in the Technical Certificate programs (6344, 6345, 6346) should take one of the FIL courses for 1-credit hour to complete the Technical Certificate.
Notes:
The National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) accredits Broward College. Declared Film students should seek advising through the Visual & Performing Arts (V&PA) Department by calling 954-201-6517 or e-mailing vpadept@broward.edu at the beginning of their studies.
Many courses have specific pre-requisite and co-requisite requirements that must be followed. Students are encouraged to consult the Course Information Table for a detailed list of all requisite requirements at www.broward.edu.
In addition to class time (4.5 hours for the A.S. Program), students will be expected to put in a total of 9 hours per week to accomplish stated objectives, either as homework or to attend posted lab / studio hours. Sign-in is required.
